Getting Started at Sewanee

Use this checklist when you are new to Sewanee and need to understand your benefit options, complete enrollment, and take the first important steps.

What to do first

Review your benefits information and log in to the enrollment system as soon as you are eligible. Be sure to note any deadlines that apply to your initial enrollment window.

Checklist

Review your medical, pharmacy, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement options.
Decide whether you want to enroll eligible family members.
Choose or waive coverage and complete your elections in Employee Navigator.
Decide whether you want to enroll in the HSA, if eligible, and set your payroll contribution amount.
Elect voluntary life or supplemental protection coverage, if wanted.
Review and update your beneficiaries for life insurance and retirement plans.
Review retirement plan eligibility and set or update your retirement contribution elections.
Create your carrier portal accounts, as needed.
Download or request ID cards once your coverage is active.
Review how to find in-network providers and participating pharmacies.
Review how to use mail order pharmacy, if applicable.
Confirm your mailing address and contact information are correct.
Review your payroll deductions once they begin and check your first paycheck for benefit deductions.
Read the Benefits-at-a-Glance and review the plan summaries or benefit guides that apply to your elections.
Save copies of your confirmation and important plan information.
