Dr. Sylvia Gray, Senior Director of EEOT (Equity, Equal Opportunity, & Title IX)

Dr. Sylvia Gray has served in the arena of higher education for over a decade. Gray's experience includes the following positions:

  • Director of operations for an all girls non-profit agency
  • A prior athletic trainer in sports medicine for several male dominated sports
  • A director of university housing for students
  • A director of university housing for multicultural families
  • A senior conduct hearing officer
  • A coordinator of a women's center
  • A coordinator of multicultural affairs
  • A leadership facilitator
  • A Greek life/risk management advisor
  • A certified coach for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Preference Assessment (MBTI)
  • A Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Trainer and Facilitator
  • And an adjunct professor of Higher Education Administration.
  • She now serves as the Title IX Coordinator at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

Gray’s experience is rooted in educating, training, storytelling, and engaging with a variety of populations. Gray’s role as Sewanee’s EEO Director includes overseeing compliance efforts and advising the executive offices, faculty, staff, students, clergy, and the broader Sewanee community on issues as it pertains to Equity and Equal Opportunity.

KAYLEI GOODINE, EEOT DEPUTY COORDINATOR | STUDENT INVESTIGATOR AND TIX PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Kaylei Goodine is a graduate of the University of the South and is happily returning after attaining her Masters of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. Kaylei has been working as a higher education administrator in grievance processes related to sexual misconduct and equal opportunity laws, including the following positions:

 

·  A coordinator of inclusion and prevention education

·  A project director of the Violence Against Women Act Grant

·  A primary trauma-informed investigator on all sex discrimination cases including, sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking

·  A deputy civil rights coordinator

·  She now serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.

 

Kaylei's particular interest lies in creating preventive systems with equity, diversity, and inclusive practices as a priority through collaborative approaches that truly center the meaning of community. Kaylei's role as Sewanee's Deputy Title IX Coordinator for students has the primary function of investigating assigned reports/cases of sex discrimination and assisting the Title IX Coordinator in overseeing the day-to-day compliance with University policies, procedures, and practices related to reducing and responding to sex discrimination.

MATT BROWN, ADA Director & Title VI Coordinator | Process Facilitator for EEOT

Matt has an extensive background in the areas of Disability Services, Human Development and learning, Counseling, ASD support, and LGBT advocacy. Matt’s experiences includes the following positions:

 

·  Adjunct Professor of Human Services

·  Advisor to Delta Alpha Pi - Disability Honors fraternity

·  Disability Services Coordinator 

·  Higher Education Case Manager

·  Director of Disability Service Office 

·  A leadership facilitator

·  Masters trained in clinical mental counseling

·  QPR Trainer

·  Bystander Intervention Trainer

·  And as a private Nuerodiversity Coach

 

Matt’s role is to promote accessibility across the University of the South by setting up policies, procedures, being an advocate for individuals with disabilities, educating the campus community, and working with lead administrators to ensure accessibility is being considered at every opportunity.
