Dear Sewanee students,
As this academic year moves toward its end and before your summer gets started, we want to let you know what to expect at Sewanee for the upcoming fall semester as efforts to mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic nationwide continue to progress.
There will likely be additional specifics that are communicated throughout the summer, but we wanted to share of some of the most important elements of our plan moving forward:
- Instruction - We expect to offer all classes and labs in-person next semester.
- Student Travel - We are not planning to have any travel or visitor restrictions in place for the Domain.
- Campus Life - We expect a full slate of lectures, concerts, social activities, and athletic competitions to take place as they ordinarily would during any given academic year.
- Public Health - Masking and surveillance testing are important parts of our mitigation strategy. Decisions on continuing these strategies will be made with the most informed guidance provided by the CDC.
We recognize that the COVID-19 pandemic remains a serious threat to public health and that we all must continue to be vigilant to protect ourselves and our communities. The University of the South’s first priority is the health and safety of our students, employees, and community. Our COVID-19 policies and procedures will always reflect that. As Sewanee did last year, the Office of Public Health and senior leadership will continue to monitor local, state, and federal COVID-19 guidelines and will be ready to adjust our plans around each of the areas above as the situation requires.
We’re almost there, and I join the rest of the University administration in thanking you for your cooperation this year and know we all continue to work together to help keep our community healthy for the rest of the semester.
