This semester’s UJE concert showcases the group's ability to interpret jazz standards from the American songbook, but as portrayed in various world music styles, including the Brazilian bossa nova and Cuban chachacha. International touring saxophonist Jake Botts features as special guest. Originally from the San Francisco Bay area, Mr. Botts graduated with honors from School of Jazz and Contemporary Music (part of the New School, New York City) in 2017.

Since graduating, he has performed and/or recorded with such artists as Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Darius Rucker, Gladys Knight, Meghan Trainor, and Brett Eldredge. He has also made his imprint on the Nashville music scene, through frequent performances, teaching, and recording.
