Sandy Guitar Wallis is a co-founder and managing director of Weathergage Capital and has 18 years of venture capital and private equity fund investment experience. Prior to Weathergage, she was a principal of Knightsbridge Advisers responsible for investor relations, business development, and investment support.
She previously was responsible for developing the first worldwide web-based information technology architecture and strategy, and for developing the first global diversity strategy, at Phillips Petroleum (now ConocoPhillips). Before joining Phillips, she was a consultant at Andersen Consulting responsible for improving operating efficiencies and developing mission- critical applications.
After graduation, Wallis was awarded a one-year research fellowship with the Thomas J. Watson Foundation. As a Watson Fellow, she studied business management in Japan, India, and Australia.
Wallis was an English major at Sewanee and has an M.B.A from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
She attended the Venture Capital Institute’s training program sponsored by the National Association of Small Business Investment Companies and the National Venture Capital Association. Wallis stays involved with the Watson Foundation and has served as a national interviewer for them.
At Sewanee, she was a proctor, a member of the White Ribbon, and a member of the Economics Club. She was inducted in the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. As an alum, she has served as a Sewanee Career Readiness, admission, and Sewanee Fund volunteer. Wallis was on the pre-business advisory board and the advisory board for the Babson Center for Global Commerce. She currently serves on the University’s Board of Trustees. She consistently mentors current Sewanee students as they prepare to enter the business world.
