Trent Leipert is thrilled to be joining Sewanee this fall as Visiting Assistant Professor of Popular Music. Trent holds a PhD in Music History and Theory from the University of Chicago and has published on contemporary music and art in a variety of journals and publications. His current research project, Video/Game/Techno, provides a critical account of convergences between popular video-based media, games, and music technology. As a keyboardist, arranger, and producer, Trent has worked with a wide range of singers, artists, and performers in Chicago and his native Canada. His own work frequently involves interdisciplinary collaboration and spans ambient, synthwave, and electronic dance music styles. He is looking forward to teaching courses on popular music, keyboard skills, and recording and production this coming year.
