RESEARCH

I study material properties at extreme conditions to better understand the constitution and evolution of planetary interiors. My current focus is on combining theoretical ab initio calculations and high-pressure, high-temperature experiments to better constrain the distribution and cycling of hydrogen in the deep Earth.

Please see our lab website for more detailed information about mineral physics research at Sewanee and the potential for undergraduate involvement in this work, as well as a complete list of publications with PDFs.

TEACHING

I teach Mineralogy (GEOL 221), Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology (GEOL 320), Physical Geology (GEOL 121), and Geology of our Solar System (GEOL 236).
