academics

Students take two academic courses, each worth four credits, along with an eight-credit internship course. The two academic courses will take place in the evenings and on the weekends due to the full-time nature of the students' internships. Below is more information on the courses:

  • THTR 228: New York Theater Experience (G2) - Padraic Lillis | Artistic Director, The Farm Theater
The class highlights the personal, cultural, and professional value of theater through attending eight live performances at a variety of venues: Broadway, New York's Public Theater, and others. The class will also offer weekly discussions highlighting the history/mission of each institution and discussing different professional disciplines within the field. Lectures will be supported by the reading of current articles written on key issues within the industry and post show discussions with the artists involved in various productions. The course is worth four credits.
  • HIST 326: New York and its Peoples, Past and Present (G7) - Professor Robert Snyder | Rutgers
This course explores the past and present of New York City in light of its migrants (primarily African American and Puerto Rican U.S. citizens) and immigrants from Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia. Students will study how migrants and immigrants change New York City, how New York City changes them, and the enduring significance of ethnic diversity in the city's politics and culture. Course content will include scholarly writings, photographs, films, music, and a variety of field trips to neighborhoods and museums. The course is worth four credits.
  • GLBL 442: Internship - Andrea Del Balso
All students will enroll in the GLBL 442 Internship course to correspond with their internship placement. The course is worth eight credits.
