On Oct. 8, 2020, the Board of Trustees of the University of the South met via Zoom for the first-ever virtual Annual Meeting of the Board of Trustees. Although the pandemic caused a shift in the way the trustees meet, a total of 125 of the 144 trustees attended the meeting, setting a record attendance with 24 bishops, 28 presbyters, and 73 lay representatives present. Even with this shift to a virtual format, the standing committees of the trustees were able to meet virtually in the weeks leading up to the annual meeting with the committee chairs submitting their committee reports prior to the start of the annual meeting.
In addition, the Trustee Bishops met the day prior to the annual meeting, with 25 bishops in attendance. During the annual meeting, trustees elected members of the associated alumni, faculties, staff, student bodies, and six trustee-nominated at-large trustee members to the Board of Trustees. Additionally, trustees heard reports from numerous University officials.
