What does the creation story in Genesis chapter 1 say about the earth, and what does it mean for Christians today? In this Deep Green Faith webinar, offered by the Center for Religion and Environment of the University of the South (Sewanee), visiting professor of biblical studies Collin Cornell reexamines the role of earth in the Bible’s first chapter. He proposes that earth as a whole and in every individual place is, according to Genesis, a co-creator with God, and that this has strong implications for Christian practices of earth-care and eco-faithfulness. The land where you live is active and inventive. How are you responding to it? How are you supporting - or obstructing - the land’s creativity?
