New Student Requirements

All students at Sewanee are required to meet certain public health standards - for your protection, the protection of your classmates, and of the Sewanee campus community. These requirements are due before your arrival on campus. This page is designed to help you meet each of those health prerequisites in a timely manner and to answer some questions you might have. Please be aware that this information is for incoming undergraduate students only.

Services

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS offers short-term based therapy and psychological services to undergraduate students at the University. It offers assessment and evaluation, short-term group and individual therapy, psychiatric services with medicine management, and crisis services.

University Health Service (UHS)

University Health Services is here to keep you healthy while you focus on your studies at the University of the South. The UHS clinic provides primary medical care tailored to the unique needs of college students. Our healthcare providers are licensed certified Nurse Practitioners who will be responsible for managing health problems, writing prescriptions, and coordinating health care for their patients.

Crisis Services

If you are having a life-threatening medical emergency or a psychological crisis, please contact 911 or visit the emergency room. Here are some resources to help you understand what this means.

Sexual Assault Services

The University Wellness Center has trained health and mental health professionals available to offer crisis support and referral services, completely confidential and at no cost to survivors. Here are some options on how to proceed after sexual assault.

Student Accessibility Services (SAS)

SAS seeks to create an environment wherein the nature and degree of access to programs, services, and facilities, and the level of self-determination afforded qualified persons with disabilities are indistinguishable from those which are available to their peers without disabilities.

Wellness Colloquium

As part of a growing initiative to provide wellness outreach to our campus, this series offers several open lectures throughout the year on various topics related to overall health and well-being, nutrition, stress management, spiritual wellness, and more. Join us for a free lunch at the Bairnwick Women's Center to hear various speakers. We'll announce the lineup each semester, so check back for details!

UWC Yoga Spring 2019 Hours

Open to Sewanee students of all types of bodies and all levels of experience, these yoga classes are free. Drop in and join us! No signup required.

Hours of operation:

The Wellness Center Office is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and is closed during the noon hour for lunch.

Please note that we are able to see current students, only; this does not include recent graduates.
