Enjoying (or Extending) Your Stay

The Great Outdoors

One of the great draws to campus for students and community members is the amount of natural beauty we are located within. Sewanee is home to a wealth of options for outdoor adventure, so if you are at all inclined there are a lot of wonderful places to explore. The Cumberland State Park system also has many beautiful hikes (of varying difficulty), full of wildflowers, waterfalls, and beautiful views.

Dining

While we pride ourselves on offering conference attendees excellent (and convivial!) conference meals, there are also several local dining options we are happy to recommend.

The Sewanee Inn

Indulge in Southern delights at eighteen58. No matter what sized appetite you’re bringing to the table, the Sewanee Inn has savory dishes and sweet treats to satisfy your cravings. Craft cocktails are best enjoyed in the rocking chairs on the porch, or by a cozy fireplace.

Stirling's Coffee House

An on-campus option that offers warm and cool drinks, salads, sandwiches, and a variety of sweet treats. A student and faculty favorite, the porch is a treasured place for coffee and conversation.

Shenanigans

Shenanigans, the beloved restaurant, pub, gathering place and community landmark housed in one of the oldest buildings in Sewanee serves casual grilled fare, dynamite made-from-scratch pizzas, feel-good southern comfort food, and deli sandwiches.

Blue Chair Cafe & Tavern

The Blue Chair Cafe & Tavern is where the community gathers, whether sitting back with a book or iPad (free wi-fi) and a great cup of coffee, or meeting a friend or business client over lunch, or even playing trivia on a Tuesday night with a craft beer.

Mountain Goat Market

Mountain Goat Market is the home of Killer Eats and Eclectic Finds. Ready for a killer meal? They have you covered with our specialty sandwiches, wraps, pizzas, and much more.
