July 4, 2022
Dear Members of the University Community and Visitors to Campus,
Each week, the University monitors the Centers for Disease Control county level data tracker for COVID-19. This three-level system, which provides guidance on indoor masking, indicates that as of June 30 our four-county area is categorized as ‘High’. Based on this guidance, the University is updating its masking policy as follows:
- Effective Monday, July 4, 2022, and until further notice, all students, employees, and visitors must wear face coverings/masks over their nose and mouth when they are in public spaces inside all University buildings. While outdoors, masks are not required unless otherwise indicated by the University.
A set of answers to frequently asked questions about the masking policy is available for your review.
Please know that CDC guidance changes weekly, and University policies may change as a result. We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in the local four-county area and adjust, as necessary, to take into account the most current information for our region and evolution of the virus.
The key to ending this pandemic is for as many people as possible who are eligible to be up to date with their vaccinations which currently includes the primary series and one booster shot. The University will continue to rely on vaccinations to help ensure the health and safety of our community, and urges everyone who has not yet been vaccinated to do so at your earliest opportunity to help protect yourself and your loved ones. You can find a vaccination location at www.vaccines.gov/.
I remain very grateful for your continued cooperation and personal commitment to help keep one another as safe as possible during this ongoing pandemic.
